Mission Statement
We the people of the Mid-Atlantic District declare this mission to be ours
to proclaim the faithfulness of God to promote spiritual growth to foster unity and fellowship to call, equip and support leaders to strengthen all our congregations for vigorous mission as we extend ourselves to a broken world and to affirm and be guided by the principles of peace making.
Core Values
The beliefs and practices of the Church of the Brethren
While we remain open to the work of God's spirit now and in the future and recognize the legitimacy of other Christian traditions, we treasure and seek to continue to live out the values of our own tradition, and the convictions and rituals that have shaped our understanding of what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ.
Life together in Christian community
To belong to God through faith in Jesus Christ is to belong to the Body of Christ. We believe it is God's will for us to worship and work together, seeking always to build up one another.
Teaching and learning
It is our intention to promote the continuous development of new skills and deeper understanding in both clergy and laity. To this end, we are committed to providing learning opportunities and calling out those among us who have the ability to teach.
Generosity
In the generous giving of our time, energy and money we give evidence of God's Spirit at work in us.
Evangelism
We embrace Jesus' command to, "Go and make disciples." Thus, we proclaim God's love and invite others to experience transformation through a commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
